market haul.

i have started consistently going at 7am. it's so quiet and calm at that time. my next step is convincing my other friends who go on wednesday that waking up for that is a good idea. i forgot to write down what i got last week, but i still have a fair amount of potatoes and onions left over, as well as zucchini i got to make zucchini bread and some green beans.

large eggs - $4
1/2 peck empire apples - $5
rutabaga - $1
pie pumpkin - $1.50
half gallon cider - $3.25
eggplants - $2
okra - $2
three green bell peppers - $1.25

i nearly gave up on spending that last last quarter, but i finally found something.

this is a week of trying new things. the rutabaga. the okra, as one of the two vegetables that gross my otherwise sensible mother out; the other one is brussel sprouts. the pie pumpkin, as i've never made pumpkin pie all the way from scratch before. and because pumpkin pie is one of my favourites, and i dislike that it's been relegated to a one-holiday-a-year sort of thing.

i don't have class til one. before then, i intend to: make cornbread, make zucchini bread, make a baby batch of applesauce with the four leftover apples from last week. oh, and do the homework i didn't do last night.
